📰 CivilLab@CUT Honored at SAICE Awards 2024
On 5 September 2024, CivilLab@CUT and the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport were recognized at the SAICE National Awards with a Highly Commended honor in the Community-Based Civil Project category. The accolade celebrates the success of the Pothole Eradication Programme (PEP) a collaborative initiative empowering youth through the EPWP Learners, whose dedication and resilience have driven meaningful change across the Free State.
The award highlights the transformative power of community-driven engineering projects that improve infrastructure, create employment, and promote sustainability. CivilLab@CUT’s partnership with Repair Holdings, Safeti, Congiela, and Maliepo has been instrumental in achieving this milestone. By investing in young people and fostering collaboration, the project exemplifies how civil engineering can enhance community well-being and inspire future engineers to tackle societal challenges.
