Overcoming Fear and Finding Confidence

Before the Program: Lost and Searching
“Before this program, I was unemployed, sitting at home with no direction. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I had no confidence in myself.”
When Relebohile heard about the EPWP Pothole Eradication Program, she saw it as a chance to do something meaningful. “At first, I was nervous. I had never worked with tools before, and I was afraid to even speak up in a group.”
Growth Through Hard Work
Relebohile struggled in the beginning, but she refused to give up. “I couldn’t use a spade before, and I was afraid to communicate with others. But with time, I learned. Now, I can even guide others!”
She developed key skills such as pothole patching, safety procedures, and teamwork. “Teamwork makes work easier. We don’t work hard—we work smart!”
Life-Changing Impact
Financially, the program was a breakthrough for her. “I can now help my mother. Before, I felt helpless, but now, I am contributing at home.”
More importantly, she found her voice. “I used to be scared to speak in front of people. Now, I have confidence. I stand tall, and I know my worth.”
Looking Ahead
Relebohile dreams of starting her own construction company. “This is just the beginning. One day, I will be the one creating jobs for others.”
Advice to Others
“Hard work pays. Never underestimate what you can do. If you’re willing to learn, you’ll gain so much.”
